Successful Strategies in Family Literacy book cover

Successful Strategies in Family Literacy is a basic handbook for those interested in developing a family literacy program in Maine. This publication was updated in July 2011 and is available by download only.

Successful Strategies in Family Literacy was originally written in 2001 as:

  • A tool to help potential family literacy applicants understand the purpose and importance of family literacy programming, and
  • A guide for planning a family literacy program in their communities.

The original publication was based on interviews with previously funded MEFLI programs and built on their experiences in determining need in their community, developing strong partnerships, and designing effective programs and instructional strategies. This publication has been updated to reflect the most recent feedback from programs.

The updated 2011 version is available as a download only. For print copies of the original book, please contact Becky Dyer, MEFLI Director, at becky@mainefamilyliteracy.com. Please include the number of copies requested and an appropriate shipping address.
