Successful Strategies in Family Literacy book cover

Successful Strategies in Family Literacy is a basic handbook for those interested in developing a family literacy program in Maine.

Successful Strategies in Family Literacy was written in 2001 as:

  • A tool to help potential family literacy applicants understand the purpose and importance of family literacy programming, and
  • A guide for planning a family literacy program in their communities.

It is based on interviews with previously funded MEFLI programs and builds on their experiences in determining need in their community, developing strong partnerships, and designing effective programs and instructional strategies. This publication also includes sample forms developed by programs during the first seven years of the Initiative.

While family literacy programming has evolved since 2001, this publication is still an effective resource and is recommended reading for all planning grantees and advisory board members.

For print copies of the book, please contact Becky Dyer, MEFLI Director, at becky@mainefamilyliteracy.com. Please include the number of copies requested and an appropriate shipping address.
